Over the past few days we've had a number of people expressing difficulty in reading the pages, I hope everything is ok now...

Over the next few weeks we will be 'tweaking' the site and adding a few more features, some pages may go offline so bare with us as the site is still undergoing some changes.

The Topics page will be altered into catagories where each of you can place your posts into the appropriate forums, there you will be able to receive your comments without having to seach through other forums. We are aware that some of you have recently placed posts and will leave them up for a few weeks, but eventually they will be moved as the site forums increase in volume.

In the meantime if you have any further difficulties or have any sugestions regarding the site please feel free to post your comments here.

Thankyou

From yer 'Jack of all trades' inc site technician

You may have noticed that we added a Chat Room, the room requires each user to log in using a legitamate 'E.mail and Password'. You may need to ask your parents permission before using the room as you are required to be 13 yrs and over to have full access to this facility.

Also. I have added a telephone feature to my Profile page, you can access my profile by clicking on my name anywhere in the site. The 'Jaxtr' phone is a free service for anybody who wishes to text me, leave a voicemail etc. This service is totaly private, no-one else will be able to listen to the calls except me. This could be a useful feature if you have any querries or complaints about any user using this site.

You can however install your own 'Jaxtr' phone on your own profile page by clicking the link below the phone and following the login procedures. The 'Jaxtr' site will give you a code, you must copy and paste this code into your profile page by clicking YOUR kihon user settings. (YOU HAVE TO BE LOGGED IN TO SEE THE USER SETTINGS LINK).

This feature is compleetly free and does not require a payment to set up either. Remeber all calls are free. the benefits of this is that you won't ever need to use a mobile phone again lol.

Have fun

ONLINE SAFTEY:

To encourage younger students and they're parents from the club and to give present users peace of mind; it has now been possible to add a new feature to the website. I have added an ISP Tracker. This enables me to monitor the pathways that yourselves and other users make to ensure the site is used in good manner.
Although the tracker will not interfere with your online line activities in anyway, it will however give me detailed reports on any malicious activity from any user who may abuse our site right down the actual computer that generated the Cyber footprint.
This is a fantastic opportunity for parents who are concerned about what sites they're children are visiting. As this site will be monitored 24/7 the times and pathways are also monitored so that we know who is in the site at any given time.
If you have any questions regarding this extra saftey feature please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards
Lynnette.

Dear Students,

Please note some dates have already been recorded in the Calendar link.

In the next few weeks we will be adding to the calendar which will include many more of Kihons competitions, plus courses and events which will be organised by the WKA.

In the meantime we are waiting for confirmation for a couple of competitions, one which is the Scotish Championships which will be held in Edinburgh on May 31st - June 1st 2008. The other is the European Wado Kai Cup, which will be held in Luxemburg, Germany on October 23th - 24th 2008.

There are alot of particulars to sort out regarding these 2 competitions but we understand the importance of having confirmed dates! So in the meantime if anyone is interested, you may want to keep these to dates free in your own calendars and as soon as the trips is organised we'll confirm your selection.

Hi Everybody,

As you may have noticed there have been some little changes in our website. We had many demands for fanclubs over the past few weeks so in order to maintain the growing trend we installed a new page in the left hand menu. All you have to do now is click on the 'STUDENT FANCLUBS link and find your Fanclub.(For existing users, don't worry about lost messages, we transfered them over to your new home in the Student Fanclub forum))
If your name is not listed, drop me a line here and i'll set one up for you. Don't forget that each user has the opportunity to update their profile by clicking on their name once they have officially loged in. See previous updates for instructions

Also we have been tweaking the Chat Room there are a few hic-cups with the TV in there, we need to take that offline and reset the default settings, won't take long.

Remember, please feel free to leave any comments or sugestions here, we're always looking for new ways to improve the site and yes Mark we're working on the music too lol.

Seasons Greetings to all our Members!

During the past few weeks we have been working behind the scenes updating the 'Safety and Security' on this website! We were aware of the improvements that needed to be taken care of i.e 'Spam' and Bullying, which has been a headache to everyone. We are pleased to announce that we have made the necessary adjustments to stamp out such nonscense.

Also, during this time, we have made some necessary amendments to the 'Login' procedures as part of the security feature I mentioned earlier; with this in mind some of you may need to re-new your login details.

Our aim is to ensure that all members have access to all information regarding Kihon Karate Wales, catch up with their peers within the W.K.A, make new friends in a safe 'Constantly Moderated Enviroment'.

If anyone has any questions regarding these changes, please contact Kihon Karate Wales. Details can be found on the 'Contact Page'.

Thank you for your perseverance.

Dear Student,

Firstly I would like to congratulate all the students who successfully passed their recent examinations last week, the standard hasn’t been this high in a long time and I’m proud of you all for the great effort you put into the lessons, you’re a pleasure to teach.
That said, I would also like to point out to every student that you must attend the Kihon and WKA courses, they are compulsory events that must be attained in order for you to proceed further in your grades. Also each student must have a valid WKA license and Insurance and all the necessary syllabus requirements before applying for an examination. Failure to do so will result in a rejected application.

CLUB UPDATES
We’re pleased to announce the re-opening of the intermediate class every Friday – hopefully starting this week; this class will cater for ‘Orange belts and over for both Juniors and Adults.

PEE-WEE CLASSES
Meetings are about to take place in regards to opening up a ‘Pee-Wee’ class for 4 – 6yrs olds. There has been keen interest in this area from our community and we have already taken some names of our new little ninja’s. Unfortunately, this class will be open to bookings only and will be based on a ‘first come - first serve’ basis. If you know anybody who would be interested in this type of lesson, please forward our contact details on to them a.s.a.p to avoid disappointment.

UPDATED CANCELLATION AND AMENDMENT POLICY FOR COMPETITIONS

We conducted a recent review which demonstrated that our current cancellation and amendment policy is unclear. This lack of clarity often results in a high number of queries and for ‘exceptions’ to be made to the existing policy.

To align ourselves to become more ’Effective’ we have therefore re-viewed and redefined our policy, to be more consistent and easy to understand for all of our students, parents and guests.

Effective from November 1st 2009, please note the key changes that are taking place which are detailed as follows:

CANCELLATION AND AMENDMENTS POLICY : You may cancel without penalty if written cancellation requests are received up to and including 30 days prior to the start of any Martial Arts Events. Due to financial obligations incurred by KIHON KARATE WALES, a credit less 50% of Competition Registration fee will be issued for written requests received up to and including 21 days prior to the start of the competition. Amendments made to our selected travel residence will be charged at a fixed fee of £10.00 per room. No refunds or credits will be issued on cancellation requests received less than 21 days prior to the start of the events. For more information, call KIHON KARATE WALES on 07908993717.

A situation has occured where our Friday class will definately be clossed on the 31st July and the 6th August and due to the venue having a roof replacement. This work that is going to be carried out 'may' take longer - in which case I will keep you updated as quickly as humanly possible. I will in the meantime try to locate another venue for our friday classes. ~ Sensei
